Broken Wheel
Block #5 - Broken Wheel

A very fun block to make! It looks bizarre until you finally sew the rows together at the end! I added one extra colour in this round so I could end up with 4 blocks using 2 of each colour. I can't wait to see how you do yours!

Select 2 fabrics + your base for each block.
Cut 5 : 2.5" squares from colour 1
Cut 2 : 2.5" x 3" from colour 2
Cut 2 : 2.5" x 3" from your base colour
Cut 16 x 1.5" squares from your base colour

Take 4 of your 2.5" squares (colour 1) and all of your 1.5" base colour squares. Mark the diagonal on all of the small squares, then working clockwise around your square stitck along the diagonal, trim and press open as shown until you have done all 4 corners of all 4 squares. Press and set aside.

Take all of the 2.5" x 3" rectangles. On your base colour mark in the middle of the long side so you have divided the rectangle into two 1.5" wide areas. Mark 1/4" either side of your centre mark. Line up a base and colour 2 fabric right sides together and stitch along the 1/4" marks. Cut down the centre line and press open.

Join your blocks into rows as shown and press. Then join your rows together to finish.

Repeat to make 4 blocks with different fabrics.
